Arrived Safe and sound in Ushuaia
London is now just a blur as now we have delved deep into the heart (all be it at the southern end) of South America. On the island province Tierra Del Fuego. After an awesome flight where the captain of our plain obviously had some friends flying also we got to fly quite a way off course to see a glacier Air Lineas not sticking so closely to the guidelines of most economical way to destination. Flying between snow not capped but drenched mountains, the avalanche safety book my employer in London bought me after checking weather conditions may come in useful. After putting the bikes together outside the airport on the grass in front of the Italian national ski team we cycled into town which gave Angela her first taste of cycling with panniers and me my first taste of the south American atmosphere - Cristal clear and plenty of it, and Angela even enjoyed the ride which was lucky with 14,995 now to go.
We set off tomorrow to the very tip of South America “cape horn” then ride back through Ushuaia and on to Rio Grande (big river) bet you’ll never guess why….
Will let you know how the first days go and how our first night camping in the Patagonian desert goes (tomorrow night) as soon as we get to Rio Grundy where hopefully there is an Internet grande also.
Silas
